sorry you´ve got such a mess to sort out with all our stuff. Using the
indirect phone numbers is obviously much more expensive than the direct
ones - we`ll have to watch that, soz

On the insurance front, you have all the documents and receipts in that
brown envelope we gave you. I´m not entirely sure how it all works but
you should have everything we need. Email is definitely the best way
for them to contact us though, if possible

The two slim figures were my favourites anyway. We did send your
baskets in a proper box so they should be in a much better state when
they arrive. Also from zululand some baskets like the ones you liked
and couldn´t afford in namib (some for us, one for u)

on the visiting front we thought venezuela would be good. It`s got a
range of different scenery (amazon forest, andean mountains, carribbean
ocean etc), apparently there´s a mix of unspoilt traditional culture and
colonial stuff. There´s obviously the falls and apparently a cool cave,
and it´s going to be fiesta time so lots of people in funny outfits
going mad. If you don´t fancy V let us know where you do fancy. We`ve
got a month with Fe and reckon we`ll end up in Ecuador at the end of Feb
when she goes. I don´t think Colombia is a good idea (our book says not
to get your camera out in Colombia because it will get nicked)

We spent our first week in S America with Rob, a friend of R´s from
work. He left last night. We´re in Chile - Puerto Montt - about 1000km
South of Santiago, heading by bus to Patagonia for Christmas, coming
back over new year by boat through the fjords (like michael palin did).

As I said on the phone the Pinochet thing has been blown out of all
proportion, the only thing we´ve come across is locals saying how great
it is that the UK is taking a stand!

We´re thinking of changing the big plan and instead of flying out of
Santiago going through central america up the west coast of the states
and out of LA or Vancouver (there are problems with the easter island
leg of the flight)

Will try and call on Christmas day, but you never know if it`s going to
be possible. I never managed to send anything special to wish you happy
christmas, but
