Gutted that mum couldn't read this.
I'm sure you've spoken to her by now, but in the end we didn't come back
into town until she flew out (there was a big party on at the backpacker
hostel and we just didn't fancy it).
Instead we stayed at a thermal spa 100km north of Windhoek. It would
have been lovely apart from the fact that it was 40 degrees, so no-one
really fancied sitting in a hot pool all day. Because it was our last
night with the car we tried to finish off all our emergency provisions
that we had bought for the Okavango. Dinner was bully beef and beans
with a box of semi-sweet white wine we'd bought by accident that it was
only possible to swallow it half frozen (saying that we did demolish the
box quite quickly!!)
Rich and I are leaving for Cape Town this afternoon. Having spent the
last few weeks in air-conditioned luxury we decided to let ourselves
down gently - the bus we're taking has air-con. Should be there for
lunch tomorrow.
It was great to see mum. I think she felt a bit in the way, but she
wasn't. Rich had a strop for 3 days solid while she was here, which
didn't really help, but it wasn't about her. She now reckons that R
isn't such a saint for putting up with me, if I have to put up with
sulks like that!!!
We had a few conversations about S.America and where you might like to
come and visit. Mum basically just reeled off every area in turn saying
she'd love to go there - so I don't really have a much clearer picture
yet to be honest. We'll definitely be flying to Buenos Aires on 10th
December as originally planned - we figure that South Americans
definitely know how to party for Christmas.
By the way, if you speak to her could you please let her know that we
posted her parcel today, seamail. It should take 4 weeks and cost 19
pounds. Thanks
I've got to go - hotmail's being a bitch today.
Love to Nathan
thanks for writing - it's great to hear from you (not just mum)
love always
